Signed by Samuel C. Wallace on Page 3 (written sideways). Original letter handwritten in black ink on pink paper. Datelined December 22, 1833 in Hagerstown, Maryland. 8" x 9 3/4." Four pages. Letter is clean and intact overall, but there are several horizontal and vertical fold lines (perhaps original), age toning along fold lines, a few small wrinkles, darkening on Page 4, and two large holes on Pages 3 and 4 measuring 1 1/2" x 1" and 1" x 1" that have resulted in about fifteen words of handwritten text missing. A Good copy. Samuel C. Wallace was a Presbyterian pastor. This letter was written on his trip from Pittsburgh to Hagerstown by way of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Wallace addresses his letter to his wife, Mrs. S. C. Wallace, also known as Ett. Wallace writes to Ett about people in the church and pastors he has met on his journey. He writes of "singing affairs" he has seen and some of the preaching he has done along the way. Wallace also mentions meeting Mr. Denny, Mr. Kennedy, Pastor Forsyth, and Ebenezer Mason. Wallace writes that while he returns home, he will continue to look for "where we should put our tabernacle.". Manuscript. Book Condition: Collectible-Good. Binding: No Binding
