Profusely embellished with plates and vignettes delicately produced with woodcuts. lx, 411pp. xviii, 503pp. Attractive ownership stamp to both volumes with a leopard of G. Gilles. Handsomely bound in full tan calf, boards sl. mottled and small long patch of leather rubbed to upper board of "Lives" which also lacks its leather lettering piece. Gilt decorations to spines. Marbled edges and endpapers. Occ. foxing but generally a very clean and sound set.
