For this notebook Watermeyer used a publisher's largely blank mock-up for another book as his notebook. The 75 drawings, in either blue ink or pale red crayon, are all variants of the drawing which appeared on the dustwrapper and front board of the published volume. The book, Atlantis or the Crying of the Waters, was Watermeyer's only English publication appearing in 1954. The verses contained are in both English and Afrikaans, and bear various dates 1952 and 1953. GOTTFRIED A. WATERMEYER (1917-1972) was a celebrated Afrikaans poet who published several volumes.
