She worked as a teacher throughout World War II and in 1944 she married Lt. David Wharton, U. S. Army, from Greensboro, North Carolina and came to the United States aboard the Queen Mary in 1946. They made their permanent home in Glen Rock, New Jersey where two sons were born, and she resumed her teaching career. They retired in 1978 and live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, 8vo, Fine with no DJ
