Bright,crisp,clean,pale mauve/dusky pink, white+black wartime nighttime air-raid pictorial atwork by SAX,illustrated front+ spine/backstrip with bright,crisp,yellow lettering to front,white lettering (title/ Sallust story+ publisher) lightly dulled, as is the yellow lettered (author's name) to the spine/backstrip,rear panel with lightly,sporadically foxed/spotted white background with publisher's blurb for other 'Sallust' stories and also 'ghost' shadows bleeding through,from internal sellotape strengthening at head+foot of same.Aged,'ghost' sellotape marks - sellotape not longer present - but not as repairs - no faults or damage internally. Negligible shelf-wear,bumping,creasing to edges and corners - no major nicks,tears or splits present.Top edges dust-soiled with minimal but sporadic foxing/spotting, fore-edges brighter but with mild thumbing /grubbing and faint,minimal foxing/ spotting; contents bright,tight,clean, solid and sound - text body foxing-free - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners,appears unread - apart from my own collation.Bright,crisp,clean,sharp-cornered,publisher's original,pale mauve/ dusky pink,white+black screen-printed cloth front+rear boards/covers with repeated front panel illustrated to front board and Traitors' Gate vignette centrally to rear board.The blocked gilt lettering to spine/backstrip visible where sellotape strip protected them but remaining portions and other letters now oxidised.Bright,clean,separate b/w map (Street plan of Budapest)+plan (ground plan of Tower of London) illustrated pastedowns+free endpapers respectively.UK, 8vo HB+dw/dj,13-383pp [paginated] includes 25 chapters and an epilogue,plus [unpaginated] publisher's blurb to half- title,title page,a dedication,contents list/table with H.M.S.O permissions for Tower of London plan to its reverse, author's note,and title separator page. The sixth of seven volumes incorporating all the principal events which occurred between September,1939,and May,1945, covering the activities of Gregory Sallust,one of the most famous Secret Agents ever created in fiction,about the Second World War.Chronologically,this novel covers the period 30th March,1942 to Oct 1942.
