Signature on beige card by Edwin Percy Whipple in black ink. Dated to October 25, 1879 in Boston. 4 1/2" x 3." Card reads: "Boston, Oct. 25, 1879. E. P. Whipple." Top, fore, and bottom edges gilt. Card is intact overall. A couple slight tears on the back. Signature is very clean and intact. On the back is "American author" in pencil from a former owner. Edwin Percy Whipple (1819-1886) was an American essayist and literary critic. He was the main literary critic for Graham's Magazine and later became the Boston correspondent to The Literary World in 1848.
