FINE.Black ink gift presentation inscrptn: 'To Dad Happy Christmas 1996,James.There is a Riley Kestrel on page 142.' inscribed to front free endpaper.Bright, crisp, clean, sharp-cornered,plastic-laminated bds with colour photographic illustrated front bd, with red+black lettering, rear bd with numbered list of Observer series titles and publisher's original adhesive price label to bottom left-hand corner, clean plain white eps - donor inscrptn excepted. Red lettering to spine/backstrip minimally faded/sunned - a ubiquitous fault due to unfortunate choice of colour (red) used.In some cases the red lettering disappears completely - a problem that remained for the subsequent following reissues of other titles.Top+fore-edges generally bright and clean, obvious light thumbing mark, centrally to fore-edges; contents bright, tight, clean, solid and sound - near pristine - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners.UK,16mo HB,no dw/dj,as issued,1st edn,5-184pp [paginated] includes contents list/table with acknowledgements to it's recto,a glossary, a foreword by Lord Montagu of Beaulieu,an author intro, history,an A-Z of cars/ models, profuse part and full page b/w photographs throughout the text and the book,8pp colour photographs in 1 block, between pp92/3,a bibliography and an index. In the historical section,Mark White guides you deftly through the delicate area of what does and doesn't constitute a vintage car, outlining the developments that have made these delightful cars the objects of pride and affection that they have become. This followed by an A-Z of vintage car makes and models, copiously illustrated both in colour and b/w photographs. The book also includes a glossary of terms and a bibliography. It is the author's hope that those for whom this book may be an introduction to an enchanting subject will end up by pursuing it further. Some of the latter titles in this series are known to have become scarce - being recalled and pulped, thereby limiting supply. But when they do turn up they are invariably in a nice condition -this title and example is one of those in both those categories. An really exceptional copy. Since April 2013,again in March 2015,and in this year too,the UK Post Office has altered it's Pricing in Proportion template, altering it's prices, weight allowances, dimensions and lowered it's qualifying compensation rates too! So,please contact seller, because of the lighter weight and the value of this item for correct, insured shipping/P+p quotes - particularly ALL overseas buyers - BEFORE ordering through the order page!
