Caspar Whitney (1864-1929) was an American author, explorer and war correspondent. Among his claims to fame are originating the concept of 'All-American' team for college football in 1889; owner and editor of 'OUTING' magazine; and a founding member of the 'Explorer's Club' in 1904. The volume gives an account of the Rio Negro, Oronoco and other northern branches of the Amazon River.
