Original publisher's beige paper wrappers with string binding. Gilt lettering on front cover. No date, circa 1888. 6 1/2" x 5." Pages and covers are clean and intact overall. Former owner's signature written sideways in black ink on front cover. Covers have moderate darkening, soiling, and a few small dampstains to front and back. Spine has some chipping and splitting along a crease where the book has been opened. Pages have age toning, slight wrinkling and chipping along corners and edges, and the occasional small dampstain or mark. A Good copy. A collection of beautiful illustrations of famous poets' homes. Each illustration includes a caption denoting the poet to whom the home belongs, the location of the home, and an excerpt of the poet's writings. The homes of the following poets are illustrated: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, John Greenleaf Whittier, William Cullen Bryant, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Thomas Moore, Robert Burns, Alfred Tennyson, Sir Walter Scott, William Shakespeare, and Lord Byron. Each illustration is full-page. On the back of each illustrated leaf is a printed testimonial promoting W. M. Wisdom & Company's "Robertine" cosmetic. Wesley Monroe Wisdom (1856-?) was a chemist who developed his famous "Robertine" product and other cosmetics.. Book. Book Condition: Good. Binding: Soft cover
