Original signature on light beige card which is tipped in on a piece of light beige paper. Signed in black ink by Barney Williams: "[--?] [--?], Barney Williams, New York, October 23." No date, circa 1850s. 4 3/4" x 7 1/2." Signature and card are very clean and intact overall except for minuscule age toning and a few spots of darkening from the glue on the back of the card. Paper backing is very clean and intact except for light age toning. A Very Good copy. Barney Williams (1824-1876) was an Irish-American actor. His given name was Bernard O'Flaherty, but his stage name was Barney Williams. Williams married Maria Pray (1828-1911), an actress. Barney and Maria often collaborated together for performances and were billed as "Mr. and Mrs. Barney Williams." The Williamses performed across the United States in places such as New York, San Francisco, Sacramento, Stockton, Marysville, Grass Valley, and Nevada.
