Original small broadside printed in black ink on light beige paper. No date, circa 1905. 4 3/4" x 11 1/4." Printed on one side of the paper. Verso is blank. Broadside is virtually pristine and intact except for three horizontal fold lines, light age toning, and minuscule rubbing or darkening along fold lines on back. A Near Fine copy. A eulogizing poem by William Winter. Excerpt from No. 23127 of the Bibliography of American Literature (BAL): "In memory of Winter's son, Louis Victor Winter. Collected in Poems, 1909." Louis Victor Winter (1873-1905) was one of the sons of William Winter (1826-1917) and Elizabeth Winter (nee Campbell; 1840-1922). Louis was born on July 17, 1873 in New Brighton, Staten Island, New York and passed away on February 17, 1905 in Mentone, San Bernardino, California. William lovingly pays tribute to his late son in this poem. William Winter was an American author and drama critic. In addition to theater reviews, he wrote poems, biographies, and essays. William was acquainted with other noted figures in bohemian circles such as Edwin Booth, Mark Twain, and Walt Whitman.. Ephemera. Book Condition: Near Fine. Binding: No Binding
