Slight darkening to leather and microscopic surface wear. Fine copies. Two beautiful books about early deep-sea exploration and the USC&GS Blake, an oceanographic vessel. The steamer Blake used innovative technologies and was associated with many groundbreaking oceanographic discoveries. It was in service from 1874-1905. The two volumes feature color maps (some of which are folding maps), black-and-white plates, and many black-and-white in-text illustrations. Some of the in-text illustrations depict deep sea creatures, among which are fish, cephalopods, crustaceans, mollusks, and a variety of invertebrates.. Book. Book Condition: Fine. Binding: Hardcover
