A fine copy in the pictorial wrappers as issued. Loosely tipped in is the separately published Plan of Liberty Cavalcade, 128pp. The Liberty Cavalcade was an exhibition organised by the City Council of Johannesburg (South Africa) and contained military exhibits, cultural exhibits from Allies’ countries and amusement entertainments. This exhibition ran from 23rd May to 1st June, covered an area of some 180 acres at Zoo Lake and was attended by over 50,000 visitors. As with all exhibitions of this nature and size, planning began well in advance and involved huge cooperation in effort and expense with the main intention of raising funds for the war effort. Incidentally, it seemed the Soviet Pavilion was the exhibit that attracted the most attention and acclaimed as being “….one of the most stylish, representing Communism as a force for modernism.”.
