The correct first edition (first state), this German-language edition preceding the English-language text of 'The Carreta'. Large 8vo. 240pp. Blue cloth lettered in red at the spine and upper board and with the orange top edge stain. With one photographic plate preceding the first page of text, and the chapter numbering on p.96 appearing on the wrong side of the page (right instead of left). The cloth at the backstrip very lightly faded, and the cloth just fractionally marked in one or two places. Former owner bookplate to a blank preliminary leaf. A very good copy of the second volume in the author's celebrated 'Jungle Novels' series, all set in Mexico during the first decade of the twentieth century. Text in German.. Book.
