Botha, D P ; Louw, N P van Wyk (foreword) : Die Opkoms van Ons Derde Stand

Human & Rousseau, 1960

Signed by Author(s)173 pages (complete). A much used and poorly stored book that is more interesting by its ownership. The book was from the library of JAN RABIE (one of the legendary SESTIGERS) - an ex-libris plate attests to this. Rabie has SIGNED the frontispage. The book is heavily annotated, most interestingly and revealingly, by Rabie in his own hand (and in pencil). This study of the role of the so-called 'Coloured' peoples of South Africa in its history is now somewhat controversial. The dustjacket is worn, scuffed, a little torn and marked. It is secure and comfortable. The board covers are marked from storage and there is some shelving wear. They are sturdy and sound. Inside, the early pages have some storage tanning. The pages, at large, are assured, certain, clear, resolute. An intriguing, provocative, unusual, unique copy - especially for fans of Jan Rabie. fk. Book Condition: Fair. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: Poor
