Publisher's original,bright,crisp,generally clean,sharp-cornered,dark red cloth boards with bright,crisp,non-oxidised,blocked capitalised gilt lettered title to front board,similarly lettered spine/backstrip which is slightly dulled and with ubiquitous but minimal bumping, with inevitable reciprocal creases at head+foot of same - but no nicks,tears or splits present - and plain white chain-laid endpapers with some minimal,faint off-setting from and to pastedowns and free endpapers respectively and hinge cracked at verso fo front free endpaper and recto of half-title leaves.Negligible shelf-wear to edges and corners - corner tips miniscculely rubbed.Boards 99% clean with minor blemishes - residual small spot splash to front,rear board with some minimal colour dye bleaching on rear board's spine's gutter fold/crease.Top edges gilt (teg),fore-edges though minimally aged/ toned,are almost blemish free; contents bright and clean - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips but some random signatures also cracked.UK,12mo HB,no dw/dj,as issued (?), new and revised,1st edn thus,v-xviipp+1-323pp [paginated] includes a Preface to to First Edition,Preface to Second Edition,a Preface for this new and revised edn,XXIX (29) chapters includes a Conclusion Visually the exterior appearance is more than acceptable for a book of it's age,and even internally,the book is in an acceptable condition/state of ppresentation.It is only the minimal exterior/interior faults described that prevent a higher grading.Despite these,it really is an exceptional copy for completeness,brightness and cleanliness. Butler's 'Erewhon' [pronounced as a word of three syllables,all short - as in E-re-Whon - nowhere in reverse] is one of the more famous utopian/dystopian tales in which a traveller happens upon a strange society and spends the rest of the book observing it.
