This concordance…was authoritative for more than two hundred years…” (JE). Johannes Buxtorf (the Elder) was a 17th century Christian Hebraist, a professor of Hebrew in Basel for 39 years at Basel sometimes known as, "Master of the Rabbis." As a leading Christian Hebraist he was largely responsible for transforming Hebrew studies into an established academic discipline in the early1600s.
