This Jefferys map of the British Colonies is based upon D'Anville's map comes from one of the most important atlases of the American Revolutionary War period “The American Atlas: Or, A Geographical Description of the Whole Continent of America ....” This edition of the map was issued following the end of the French & Indian War and shows the Colonies just prior to the American Revolution. Further information in the cartouche state that “the Boundaries of the Provinces since the conquest of Canada are laid down as settled by the King in Council.” The state of New Hampshire takes up all of Vermont. Depicted are British forts and the locations of various Native American Tribes just prior to the American Revolution., McCorkle 755.2
