Few images were produced with such spirit of innovation and adventure, formal experimentation, and sheer joy in the act of creation. A pioneering work of lasting significance, this Exhibition Catalog precedes by a full decade and is a basis of the first full-fledged, book-length study, "Taken By Design: Photographs From The Institute of Design 1937-1971" (2004), published by the Art Institute of Chicago.
