An unusual,uncommon,historical subject and ephemeral item too,on 'Vermin' control.Researched from churchwardens' account,books,registers,and parish archives,with other known records missing or disappeared.Various Royal Statutes and Acts from Henry VIII,1532-3 and Elizabeth I,1566 respectively set out the animals and birds classed as 'vermin' and the rewards and payments for the amounts of each destroyed.Animals and birds included: fox,badger,otter,pine marten,polecat, stoat,weasel,hedgehog,common mole,bats,red squirrel,rats,viper or adder,rook, choughs,crows,wood-pigeon,house sparrow and even,surprisingly,dogs.
