Folio. Entire issue, August 19, 1944, in original wraps, light general wear, a few very minor and insignificant cracks noted along spine edge, mailing label at bottom corner. The author's second of six contributions to Collier's, this one from London. In it, he presents a first-hand account of the Royal Air Force, or RAF, successfully shooting down Nazi bombs. From the opening paragraph, "The tempest is a great, gaunt airplane. It is the fastest pursuit job in the world and is as tough as a mule. It has been reported with a speed of 400 and should dive way ahead of its own noise. Where we were living, its job was to intercept the pilot-less planes and shoot them down over the sea or in open country as they came in on their sputtering roar toward London." See Hanneman C331.
