This is a French translation (first published in 1784) of Lloyd’s “The History of the late War in Germany” (London,1766). Lloyd distinguished himself at the siege of Bergen-op-Zoom, 1747, and was made a major in the French army. He served first on the Austrian side, then the Prussian, in the Seven Years’ War. This work is one of the chief works by this fascinating mercenary who died in Belgium after service with the Russian army. The large folding map, “Carte generale pour l’intelligence de la Guerre de Sept-Ans,” was added later and is dated 1805.
