An easy to use guide to the art of American Indian sign language -- covering a brief history of sign language, common words & phrases of Indian sign talk, counting to 10 & 100, and many pages of practice sentences. The author and his wife demonstrate the hand signals in photos and illustrations -- showing an ancient means of communication by sign. For centuries these hand-signals, developed by the Plains Indians, were used by many Indian Tribes. Hand-signals were also used by traders and travelers. Cody "dedicated this book to the youth of America, especially the Boy Scouts of America". Iron Eyes Cody was an American actor of Italian descent who portrayed Native Americans in Hollywood films, famously as a Native American shedding a tear about litter in one of the country's most well-known television public service announcements.
