JOHN KEIR CROSS. Bruce Angrave : The Other Passenger. Eighteen Strange Stories. With illustrations and a dust wrapper design by Bruce Angrave

John Westhouse (Publishers) Ltd., London, 1944

First Edition (first printing). 8vo. 274pp. Black cloth lettered and bordered in gold at the spine. With eight surrealistic colour plates by Bruce Angrave. A little bruising to the backstrip ends, and a single tiny indentation to the head of the upper board. A little spotting to the edges, endpapers and pastedowns. Contemporary (1946) former owner gift inscription neatly inked to the head of the front free endpaper. Very good in non-price-clipped dust wrapper, somewhat dust marked, creased, nicked and soiled. A scarce wartime collection of eighteen macabre and supernatural stories, with the added benefit of the most uncommon dust wrapper, albeit a somewhat handled example. Cross and Angrave had previously collaborated on the chapbook 'Lucy Maroon - The Car that Loved a Policeman', issued under Cross' 'Stephen MacFarlane' pseudonym five months earlier than the present text.. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: Fair
