Judson and Company : Typed Letter Signed - Judson and Company, Chicago, Illinois

Original letter typed and signed on beige stationery of the transportation company, Judson & Company. The full header of the Judson & Company reads, "Judson & Co.'s Select and Popular Personally Conducted California Excursions, 193 South Clark Street. Chicago, Ill." The different offices and their locations are also listed at the top. Dated October 24, 1895. 8 1/2" x 11." One page, complete. Letter is clean and intact overall. Letter has two horizontal fold lines, perhaps original. The ink has some bleeding but it is minimal and the text and signature are still readable and mostly intact. The Judson & Company letter is signed "Judson & Co." and addresses E. F. Fifield, Esq. of Redlands, California. The company informs Fifield that his "baby carriage, which did not arrive in Chicago in time to go through with [him] last Thursday the 17th. inst., arrived on the evening train a week ago." Judson & Company writes they sent the carriage to him in Los Angeles but are not sure if any expense will be incurred by doing so. However, the company adds that the Excursion Manager has been instructed to pay any fees. The Southern California Investors' Excursion Company is addressed to E. Theo. Siefield, Esq. of New Haven, Connecticut. Judson & Company offered public transportation services via train. In an 1895 issue of the Farmers' Review, Judson & Company is advertised as having Pullman sleeping cars with upscale amenities and a porter in each car who attends to the passengers' needs..
