Kundzicz, Walter (Champion Studios) & Tucker, Howie (Model/Subject) : Howie Tucker: "cowboy" Nude Color Photographs By Walter Kundzicz

Champion Studio, New York City, NY, 1988

First Edition / First Printing. Fine in No Dust Jacket, As Issued. 2 pages. Rare Howie Tucker and Walter Kundzicz/Champion Studios collectible set. Two (2) original vintage color photographic prints of Howie Tucker, one of the most popular and most good-looking male-nude models discovered by Walter Kundzicz, in two of his full-frontal nude portraits. The prints measure 3.5 X 5 inches and are presented "bleed". Champion Studio's earlier vintage prints were "pocket size" and had white borders, the widespread practice in the 1960's. They are encased in protective plastic sheets. From photographic as well as erotic points-of-view, the superior photograph is the one that shows Howie Tucker full-frontal nude yet fully dressed as a cowboy brandishing a gun, as only the intuitively imaginative Walter Kundzicz can pull it off. The cowboy as icon of masculinity has been "referenced" by many post-modern artists, most notably Richard Prince, who actually used Kudzicz's cowboy nudes for some of his appropriations. The other photograph is a Classical nude pose shot in a brown-dominant room (instead of outdoors), again in Kundzicz's distinctive style. The photographs belonged to the small surviving number of portraits in Walter Kundzicz's possession. The original prints were taken by Kundzicz's partner after Champion Studios dissolved, have completely vanished, and never been found. Howie Tucker is a darkly handsome version of the prototypical All-American male beauty. He anticipates by about two decades the model/stars of the reigning American photographer of the male nude, Bruce Weber. This is the genuine article, an absolute "must-have" collectible, not just memorabilia, set for Howie Tucker, Walter Kundzicz/Champion, and male erotic art photography collectors. These original vintage color photographic prints, titled and indicated as such on verso, are now collectible. As far as we know, this is the only set available online, is eminently suitable for framing, and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, pristine beauties. Please note: There are Howie Tucker and Walter Kundzicz prints available online, but most of them are digital copies or have serious flaws and so have little or no collectible value. These prints are a beauty, and as such, an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare set thus. One of the iconic American male-nude models of the 20th century. A fine collectible set.
