Harvill Secker, London, 2012

The first English-language edition (first printing), issued two years after the original French edition. 8vo. Unpaginated. Speckled paper-covered boards lettered in red at the spine and with the title red-stamped to the fore edge. A small area of very light staining to the top edge, impacting the upper margin of a score or so of leaves. A very good copy in virtually fine non-price-clipped dust wrapper. The author's debut novel, a semi-fictionalised account of Operation Anthropoid, which resulted in the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich in Prague during the Second World War. Winner of the 2010 Prix Goncourt du Premier Roman. Heydrich was overseen by Heinrich Himmler, but a common perception within the SS was that 'Himmler's brain is called Heydrich' which in German spells HHhH - hence the novel's name.. Book.
