8vo. 32pp. Printed title-page. Dis-bound from a nonce volume. Ttitle-page grubby to the fore-edge from page turning and a small closed edge tear. A trifle foxed. Very good copy of a rare political tract. No other copy of this second edition traced. No wrappers. 21.5cms. 'Printer's Proof' copy wriiten in ink hand to the top of the title-page. Some minor ink corrections to the text. Originally spoken as an extemporaneous lecture on the morning on the 19th November 1832 at Robert Owen's Institution in Gray's Inn Road. King's Cross, London. the first edition was printed by a party of Gentlemen from the recollections of the speaker. This rare second edition was written by Macconnell and considerably enlarged and improved 'sent forth for a second timeinto the world by the author himself'. He prepared it for the press before the Irish Coersion Bill was signed. This is the only copy we have been able to trace. A third edition was issued in 1835. The title-page includes'at " the institution of intelligent and well-informed of all classes established for the acquishition and dispersion of Useful Knowledge'. The rear page lists three other works by Macconnell.. Book Condition: V.g.
