Manuscript poem : Cape Dutch manuscript poem in 12 stanzas, evidently hand-written by a Transvaler

(no date, but possibly 188-)

Written in a hasty hand, on two sides of an octavo leaf. This item fell out of a copy of H.J. Hofstede, Geschiedenis van den Oranje-Vriustaat (published 1876). It needs to be researched, but may relate either to the delegation of Transvaal Boers sent to London to plead the cause of independence in the late 1870s; or it may date from 1900, when Kruger, went into exile in Europe [although the latter suggestion doesn't account for the reference to England in the first stanza.] This may be a transcription of a published poem; or, it may be original. At any rate, the scribe fails to identify himself.
