The chalk paper cover has a colour reproduction of "Vlei Beings / Vleiwesens" from 1945 affixed to the front. This is patient. It has wear and creasing and the right bottom corner has been snipped. The covers themselves are worn, torn about all edges from storage and shelving. The cover faces have been sunned and scuffed. Nonetheless, the covers are relaxed and secure. The green cloth covered boards are mild-mannered and placid. They have some very general and very light shelving wear to edges and corners. There is some very light scuffing. The frontis and end papers have delicate foxing spots and handling marks. The contents are most agreeable. The coloured and b/w illustrations are fresh, vivid, visceral.
