Engravings by Catesby from ‘The Natural History of Carolina, Florida, and the Bahama Islands: Containing Figures of Birds, Beasts, Fishes, Serpents, Insects and Plants:…’ The watermark shows a crown over a Strassbourg lily, above the initials "FR". On laid paper, with chain-lines spaced approximately 1-inch apart.
"Later, in the early 19 th century, [Catesby] reprints were issued using the same typesetting as the 1771 White edition. For this reason, they are also referred to as 3d edition prints, yet they are discernable for being printed on woven paper (all previous editions were produced on hand laid papers.)"
