Original publisher's brown paper wrappers with staple binding. 5 3/4" x 8 1/2." Thirty-two pages, complete. Pages and covers are clean and intact overall. Pages are browned. There are a few small chips along the edges and a closed tear on the back measuring about 1 1/4" but all text is still readable. A Very Good copy. The Welcome News was a general-interest magazine with a literary bent that also covered topics such as social and political events. It was established in 1898. Most of this issue is a list of advertised books in a variety of genres. Among the subjects discussed in this issue are the Great Depression and its affect on the younger generation, Francis Townsend's plan in comparison to Upton Sinclair's EPIC (End Poverty in California) plan, one artist's return to bartering to stay economically afloat during the Depression, "Reds" (Communists) and whether they should have rights, Tradex as a solution to poverty, and ongoing war debts from World War I..
