The Welcome News was a general-interest magazine that covered topics such as literature, politics, and societal issues. It was established in 1898. Among the features in this issue are short stories, poetry, and news of recent events. Some of the subjects are an editorial lamenting the lack of intolerance (citing intolerance as one of the chief causes of the Spanish Civil War); an editorial saying that unemployment is not caused by the immigration of "foreigners" but by the decline of a capitalist economy; advice on how to be a writer; and announcement of new books about the co-operative movement..
