George Barr McCutcheon (1866-1928) was an American playwright and author of popular fiction. The Man from Brodney's is about a cast of characters who are on the island of Japut. One of the central plotlines follows the novel's eponymous character, who is acting as a representative for the indigenous people of the island, and his chance meeting with a European princess.
