Original manuscript handwritten in black ink on beige lined paper. Signed by the author on the first page as "Geneva Mower." 8 1/2" x 11." Fifteen pages, complete. Pages and handwriting are very clean and intact. All pages are folded in half vertically. Pages have slight wear vertically. A Near Fine copy. Geneva W. Mower received her MA from UC Berkeley in 1907. She married Hugh Lawrence Hagan, a lawyer who graduated from UC Berkeley in 1906. They lived in Oakland at 1346 Centro Avenue around 1916. Hagan eventually became the district attorney for the City of Oakland. Geneva became a teacher and the headmistress of Anna Head School, which is now known as Head-Royce School after merging with Royce School in 1979. This manuscript is a student paper by Geneva Mower for one of her classes. The topic is The Pardoner's Tale, which is one of The Canterbury Tales by the medieval English poet and writer, Geoffrey Chaucer. The paper also includes handwritten annotations in red ink by Mower's professor. This paper may have been written for a philosophy class because the professor refers to a book, Modern Philosophy, in the annotations.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Near Fine.
