MR. AND MRS. ANONYMOUS : HANDWRITTEN MANUSCRIPT DIARY OF EARLY 20TH CENTURY LIFE IN PENNSYLVANIA

16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. This is an interesting diary representing the year of 1913. The diary is completely full of handwritten entries, with a page a day for writing. We are not quite sure about who kept the diary but we do know that the husband (Charles) writes all the way up until the middle of June and then the wife takes over. We believe that they live in Pennsylvania from my analyses of the several towns that they mention. Towns listed were; Riverton, Highland, Easton, Pittsburg, Union, Bangor and Columbus. They also mention so many names, some of which are; Livingston, Randall, Harvey, Miles, Dodge, Whiteside, Shilling, Shenk, Ebenstine, Lantz, Carter, Cox, Raymond, Rev. Hamilton, Beatty, Simmon, Hodson, Parmenter, Mitchell, Potter, Kern, Elbert, Strawn, Churchill and more. Some examples of their entries are; "Several men were killed and some hurt in mines…. Avis went downtown and I went to the show tonight, a free show on electricity….. Mr. Durkey was shot and killed last night. Whiteside was elected Mayor. Pa Hill passed away at 8 O'clock this evening…..Nellie started back to Iowa with Pa's corpse at 3 O'clock this afternoon… C.W (author of the 1st half of the diary) isn't going to keep this journal any longer, I am going to keep it now……Glen went back to Riverton last night. Henry and Alfaelta went down this morning. We went to the woods this afternoon where the Mitchell crowds were pick nicking…. A new daughter arrived at the Meeker residence today…. Glenn went down to Ebestines this morning this afternoon we read Glenn's new book….." and more.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Good+. Binding: Original Cloth
