Rare copy signed by E.G. Browne., A fascinating review of Nasirid-Din Shah’s reign during the Qajar Dynasty at the second half of the 19th century. This particular volume of the series starts just after Nasirid-Din Shah’s return from Europe in the 16th year of his reign in the year 1279 A. H. The book is signed and dated by the prominent Orientalist scholar Edward G. Browne in 1917. Edward Granville Brown was a prominent English Oriental scholar, perhaps best known for his documentation and historical narratives of the Bábí movement. He published two translations of Bábí histories, and wrote several of the few Western accounts of early Bábí and Bahá'í history. In addition, he wrote A Year Among the Persians (1893) sympathetic portrayal of Persian society which few Westerners have ever seen, including a frank account of the effects of opium. After his death in 1926 it was reprinted and became a classic in English travel literature., British Museum Persian Catalogue 14773.i.11.
