He became well-known for his "predictions" in his columns and broadcasts in which he tried to anticipate which events would happen and which people would appear in the news. Pearson created this game based on his "predictions," which many people found entertaining. Drew Pearson's Predict-a-Word is a word game designed for two or more people. It can be thought of as a combination of Scrabble and Bingo. The objective is to make as many words as possible on a 5 x 5 grid. Players try to "predict" which words will be formed and which letters will be called out. Words can range from three to five letters with five-letter words receiving the most points. Any valid word is eligible for points, and the instructions give example words for each alphabetical letter. Each player (or team, if there are many players) gets a paper chart with the 5 x 5 square. Game play begins with a spin of the dial which will land on one of twenty-six letters in the alphabet. All players write that letter anywhere on their chart. Taking turns, each player calls out a letter of their choice, which then must be written on all of the players' charts, in any open space. Letters cannot be moved or erased once they are written on the chart. There are additional rules that may result in additional or deducted points. The player with the most points wins.. Ephemera.
