In fine state in the original dark red cloth as issued, "For Personal distribution only". Measuring 255 x 205mm, this consists of sigle sided double-spaced typescript, each chapter paginated separately. The book was subsequently commercially issued by McGraw Hill, but although the title is the same the published version differs both in respect of chapter order and text, although the textual differences appear to be minor.. This private issue is of the utmost scarcity: probably no more than 20 copies were produced. Jack Penn (14 August 1909 – 27 November 1996), M.B., Ch.B., F.R.C.S.(E.)., Mil. Dec. M.B.E., S.M., was a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, sculptor and author, who was also for a time a member of the President's Council in South Africa.
