Third impression, issued seventeen years after the original impression. 8vo. 248pp. Blue cloth lettered in silver at the spine with a small silver-stamped decoration. An ex library copy, with inkstamps to the front and rear pastedowns and free endpapers, and a library plate to the front free endpaper, over which has been pasted a subsequent owner's bookplate. Edges lightly spotted and with just a touch of bruising to the spine ends and corner tips. A very bright copy in quite poor dust wrapper, non-price-clipped but with an inch of loss from the head of the spine panel and four inches from the base, plus further fractions of loss from the corner tips and a little spotting, chafing and creasing. A sound copy of the author's second and final novel, and whilst an ex-library copy still with an interesting provenance - the bookplate over the library plate being "Ex-Libris A & AW Freud" - Sigmund Freud's great-grandson.
