Original green cloth with original paper title-label on the upper board, a little rubbed and slightly soiled, pp. (v) + 28 + 70. Slight offsetting on a few pages. The second and third sections, probably printed separately and bound with the first section, are entitled, 'Die briefwisseling tussen Prof. Lauts en Goewermentsekretaris J. Groenendaal in belang van die Oranje-Vrystaat,' and 'Transvaalse aangeleenthede,' respectively. Although the pagination of the first part is distinct from that of the second and third parts, it has been corrected in pencil to run continuously. There is evidence in the gutters that the sections were first side-sewn, and subsequently disbound to be re-sewn together, for publication (probably in a very small edition) as here. This copy carries on the front free endpaper, a fine inscription from the author, expressing friendship and thanks to a Mnr. D. J. Pieterse, for assistance rendered.
