Original black-and-white publicity photograph showing actor Steve Reeves in his role as Sir Henry Morgan aboard a ship in Morgan the Pirate (1960). Reeve is shown wearing pants, shirtless, and with his hands on his hips as he gazes out from the deck of the ship. Printed on glossy paper. No date, circa 1960. 8" x 10." "MP-118" is printed in the lower-left corner, the "MP" possibly being an abbreviation for the movie's title. Photo is very clean and intact except for a few small wrinkles. A Very Good, almost Near Fine copy. Steve Reeves (1926-2000) was an American bodybuilder and actor. Due to his physique, Reeves was often typecast as the heroic protagonist in "sword-and-sandal" movies. Sword-and-sandal films are also known as peplum (pl. pepla) films, which are a sub-genre of epics often set in Greco-Roman times that were mostly made by Italian studios. Reeves is best-known for playing Hercules in Hercules (1958) and its sequel, Hercules Unchained (1959). He worked almost exclusively in Europe and was once the highest-paid actor there..
