An important and scarce work by Sachs, best known for "Black Hamlet" a pioneering psychoanalytic study of a tribal witchdoctor or medicine man. The present study is based on his "personal experience, as in the years 1928-42 (he) tested the vegetative nervous systems of a great number of Euroopean patients and normal and abnormal South African natives, on whom were carried out more than 10,000 tests".
