Sanger, George 'lord' : SEVENTY YEARS A SHOWMAN

J. M. Dent & Sons, Ltd., London, 1927

Lord George Sanger was performer and proprietor in circuses from the age of ten, when he independently trained animals, to the age of eighty when he sold his last setup in 1905. Sadly he was murdered by a disgruntled former employee in 1911, one year after the original publication of this book. Having married a lion tamer and been personally lauded by Queen Victoria are but two of the interesting stories in the book, which is a treasure trove of information about entertainment in Britain in the Victorian era. ; Wayfarer's Library; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 258 pages, Very Good+
