Former ownership stamp and signature on front free endpaper and front pastedown, respectively. Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Binding is tight. Endpapers and a few pages closest to the endpapers have some foxing. Covers and spine have slight rubbing. Small bump at the top of the spine. The Force of Truth: An Authentic Narrative is one of Thomas Scott's most famous books. Thomas Scott (1747-1821) was an English evangelical preacher and author. This book is an autobiography in which Scott recounts his conversion to an evangelical Christian. Scott began as a minister of the Church of England, but according to him, he never believed the Church's principles. After corresponding with the noted Anglican priest and abolitionist, John Newton, Scott was "born again" and became an evangelical preacher. Scott would go on to become a respected commentator of the Bible and one of the founders of the Church Missionary Society (known today as the Church Mission Society).. Book.
