Original letter handwritten on white paper in black ink by James Shiland. Letter is a retained copy and unsigned. Datelined December 15, 1880 in Denver, Colorado. 5 3/4" x 5." Two pages, complete. One leaf of paper folded in half and written on two sides. The letter is very clean and intact. Letter has a horizontal fold line at center. There is slight splitting on the fore-edge along this fold line going in about 1". There are a few staple or pin holes at the top of the paper that only affect one word, "your," on Page 2 of the letter. A Very Good copy. The letter is addressed to Messrs. Edward J.[?] Brooks, Edward Rollandt, and Thomas E. Shiland. This is a thank-you letter in which James Shiland thanks the three addressees for the invitation to a "social gathering and banquet to be given by the employees in the office of the Surveyor General on the eve of his departure for the East.". Manuscript. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: No Binding
