The introduction to 'Aces High',
published in August 1994,sought further information in regard to many of the pilots included in that first volume.The response has been overwhelming,opening doors to many new avenues of research.In consequence additional information,
together with a few corrections,allows updating on more than 700 of the 1,200 pilots covered in the original book,
together with the addition of some new names.
This is a completely independent volume,
however.It does repeat any of the earlier information - everything herein is new,
including many photographs from private sources.
Additional therefore,is substantial
information regarding pilots who gained sucess against the V-1 flying bombs during 1944-45.Detail is also provided of those units in which virtually all fighter pilots served at one time or another - the fighter Operational Training Units - and of specialist units such as the Central Gunnery School,
Fighter Leader's School,Fighter Experimental Units etc.To match the coverage of the US and Soviet companion volumes,there is also coverage of the only other conflicts in which British pilots have been able to claim victories since 1945 - Korea and the Falklands War
(then 1999).An indispensable companion volume to 'Aces High'.
