Pamphlet is virtually pristine and intact except for a few wrinkles and smudges at the bottom on all four pages. A Fine copy. A beautiful fine-press pamphlet commemorating the centennial of Carl I. Wheat's birthday. Carl I. Wheat (1892-1966) was an American historian, lawyer, and founder of the Roxburghe Club. He was also an early member of the Zamorano Club. The text by Albert Shumate commemorates Wheat and gives a concise biography of his life and career. The plate on front is a printed portrait photograph of Carl I. Wheat, who is standing in front of buildings and holding a staff in one of his hands. The caption under the illustration reads, "Carl Wheat holding the E C V Staff of Relief on the main street of Murphys. Building is now the Old Timers Museum. In the window is sculptor Gordon Huff's likeness of Wheat." Back colophon: "Designed and printed at the Arion Press in an edition of 175 copies for the Roxburghe and Zamorano clubs joint meeting held in San Francisco, September 19 and 20, 1992.
