The British public, who had been suffering from some exceptionally acrobatic politicians, noted the difference, and Smith won many friends. - The men of the regime in Salisbury were openly called 'rebels' by Mr Wilson in Britain. This was the first time, since the United States declared her own indpendence of Britain, that a colony had taken independence from Britain instead of being granted its freedom.
