Another riveting detective novel by Seldon Truss (1892-1990), an English author. He is perhaps best-known for writing crime fiction. Truss also went by the pseudonym, George Selmark. The Hunterstone Outrage begins within the setting of a church. A suspicious man of wealth, who had normally not attended, has made a sudden appearance during church service. However, the ongoing service is soon interrupted by a horrific discovery. In the back is the first Mystery League "Baffle Contest" in which readers can submit their responses for solving the first "Baffle Case," "the McCumber Murder." This Baffle Case has one black-and-white illustration showing the place of the crime and vicinity. The concept behind the Baffle Contest is that readers try to solve a fictitious case using provided information such as narrative and character testimony. Then, they try to solve the case, give their answer as to who committed the crime, and provide their reasoning behind the answer. There were four winners from First to Fourth Place with the First Prize being $100 in gold. The other three winners were awarded smaller amounts of money.. Book. Book Condition: Fine.
